FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER

April 27, 2008

Thought for today: “This Sunday before the Rogation days teaches us to have confidence in prayer that is made in Christ’s Name, in and with the Holy Ghost. We are permitted to pray for all our needs, body and soul. We ought to pray above all that God’s Kingdom will come on earth, that Christ may be served and honored and loved by all.” –Saint Joseph’s Sunday Missal (1953).

Ascension Thursday Mass, May 1st, will be at 7:00 PM. Please call the parish phone number for information on Mass on Friday, May 2nd.

The May Crowning of Our Lady will be on Sunday, May 4th. Parents, please bring flowers for your children to lay at the feet of the statue of Our Lady.

First Holy Communion will be on Pentecost Sunday, May 11th.

First Friday survey: Father has asked for a survey to be done to determine all participants who will commit to attend the nine first Friday Masses if they were to be made available to us. Please see Teresa Wright after Mass or Phone: 407-422-0102 in order to commit on attending the first Friday Masses.

Tolle Lege Book Club Membership Discount will be given to all members. This includes a 25% discount on all book club books that are reviewed and a 10% discount on all other books for sale in the bookstore. Learn about the Holy Mass; join the book club today!

Library volunteers: Four volunteers are needed to help establish and maintain three separate libraries for St. Thomas More Chapel; specifically the Children’s, Adult’s, and Priest’s libraries. Please see Fr. Thai Trinh if you are interested in undertaking this responsibility.

The lost & found box is located in the common room. Please check to see if any of your lost items are in the box. Otherwise, all unclaimed items will be donated to Good Will at the end of April. If you have donated or will be donating a used Missal, please mark the inside of the Missal as "Property of St. Thomas More Chapel." This helps to avoid the confusion as to whether or not a Missal is lost or had already been donated.

Please pray for all of our sick and homebound parishioners, especially for Benedict Lander, Donna Blich, Sonny Pham, Maria Catarina Alf, Tom Massett, Carol Cantelmo, Ida Ancona, and Allen Hogan.

Tolle Lege Book Club will be meeting 20 minutes after Mass today. We will review The Mass by Father Joseph Dunney. Are you lukewarm or have a hard time concentrating on the Mass? Then read this book and join the book club!

This week's sanctuary lamp is lit for the intentions of the Lopresti family by Mr. and Mrs. Steve and Julie Lopresti. Please see Teresa Wright if you are interested in lighting the Sanctuary Lamp for a special intention. Suggested donation is $10.00.

A gentle reminder: Please refrain from talking in the vestibule (hallway) during Mass and after Mass. Please converse on the outside of the church (out of kindness to those still making their thanksgiving in the chapel). All sounds in the vestibule are clearly heard inside the chapel. Also, out of respect for our Lord, please withhold from entering and leaving the chapel during Mass (only under extreme reason), especially from The Canon until Holy Communion. Parents caring for infant and toddler children do not fall under this restriction for obvious reasons.

Organ donations: We urgently need $5,335 to meet the balance payment due on May 12 (only two weeks away). If you haven’t already made a donation, please place your donation in one of the special envelopes located on the table in the vestibule, and place it in the collection basket. If you’ve already placed a check in the collection basket for the new organ, please notify Jeff Rhea of what you have donated or you may contact him if you would like to pledge a contribution and/or if you have any questions. Your generosity is appreciated.

Special intention prayer after Mass: Join us to say one decade of the Rosary immediately after the recessional (last song). This decade is offered for the intention of St. Thomas More Catholic Church: that we may soon have a holy priory and school.
